In Search Of...

Hi Grade Seven Parents:)  (Grade Six parents can disregard this message:)

I'm looking for one parent who is willing to pick us up 10 Gingerbread houses from Costco on one of their upcoming trips.  We will be using these for a fundraiser that the Grade Sevens do where they auction off Gingerbread houses they have decorated.   I'd need for the person who does this to have the ten houses on a bill separate from one of your own.  They do need to be from Costco as these ones are already preassembled and just require decorating.

If there is someone able to do this could you please contact me before purchasing to ensure that someone else hasn't already agreed to:)

Thanks in advance!
Ange

    Happy Monday!

Great day today!  It was very busy with getting into the new routines of Monday, but the students were VERY successful.  Students who were in continuing band this morning were given the silent reading period to do work so have had an equal amount of class time to those who weren't in band on those subjects.  You'll find as the year progresses your child will have less and less homework in spelling.  I don't reduce the quantity of work, they just start to be accustomed to the routines of the day and use time more effectively.

    It's All In Your Head

You may have noticed that your son/ daughter came home with a silhouette of their profile today but it was not listed on the homework.   We are working on a Health and Career activity involves creating a collage of the things that make you special. They are going to use images (can be from magazines/ photos/ photocopies or hand drawn) to cover the side of the paper that does not have the sketch on it.  When they have completely covered the white portion, they turn back to their silhouette and follow those lines to cut it out.  This assignment will be ongoing right now, but students should be collecting the items they want to put on their silhouette. When this is complete will be working on the font portion to display their names.

    Another Great Day:)

    Question of the Day:)
What is Mrs. McKay's favourite type of chocolate?
    Answer:
    Peanut M&M's

Please make sure to show your parents how to subscribe to the posts on this blog so they don't have to check it daily:)

    Art Assignment #1

Your son/ daughter will be doing Art with Ms. Beleski this year.  They will be introduced to assignments on Wednesdays and then have a finish up period on Fridays.  This is their first assignment that she introduced today.  The students will have an opportunity to work on this on Friday as well and should be able to complete in that time.

    Welcome Back

I'm so excited to be welcoming your son/ daughter to our Division 2 Grade 6/7 class.  We're going to have an amazing year.  Attached below is our weekly schedule which we will be sticking to 99% of the time.  Your child has a copy of this schedule either in their planner or in the front of their binder.

Please be aware that gym strip is a MUST for PE and your son/ daughter will not be allowed to participate without it.  I require that they change their shirt for PE.  They are able to wear either shorts/ sweats/ yoga pants, but no jeans allowed. They must also have appropriate footwear for PE.

Looking forward to meeting you at "Meet the Teacher (creature) Night"!
